MDA is Evolving

Technology is evolving everyday. Software programs, electronics, vehicles ext. are being replaced by new and improved replicates. Software happens to be a key tool to organization and productivity throughout a business. Purchasing the new and improved software systems can benefit an organization tremendously through implementing more profit and faster turn around times. It can be exciting for a company to purchase something new that will improve and make work easier for the employees. If choosing to purchase software, the best suggestion would be to implement an MDA (model driven architecture).

Software systems can be fairly costly. Most systems sound great when you are looking at all the bells and whistles and can be very appealing to the eye. Let me ask you a good question though? What if you purchase a new software system and absolutely love it; what happens two years or five years down the road when your software is outdated or your company out grew it? Many of us do not think about this scenario. Let’s say you have just spent $75,000.00 on a new scheduling system and it’s been five years and is no longer up to date or can contain your data. Now what do you do? Well hopefully you haven’t made it this far. Hopefully you are still researching and you have stumbled on information about MDA.

What is MDA? MDA is a model driven architecture that was developed to more accurately satisfy your needs and offer more flexibility. MDA is a structure that has an infrastructure that can be updated. Your system is tailored to your needs and you have your custom screens but once an updated version is desired the vendor can do an upgrade once and it is available for its customers.

The reason MDA is different from other structures is because many systems can not be upgraded. Some systems have upgrades that when loaded cause your system to have all kinds of unnecessary screens. Others that are custom systems are extremely difficult sometimes impossible to upgrade. Custom systems are started and finished with all code. To upgrade this means the vendor would have to go into the system and rewrite thousands of codes. Therefore, choosing an MDA system will be an extremely beneficial to your business.
